ICS focuses on prompt customer service
The essence of health insurance is the payment of claims, and in this area, Global
Benefits Group’s claims processing company, International Claims Service (ICS),
prides itself on timely and responsive customer service. The ICS service commitment,
our worldwide network of direct pay facilities, and a unique commitment to local
support, combine to provide an unmatched level of service in the processing and
payment of claims.
ICS is staffed with experienced claims processing professionals, fully conversant
with the needs of international clients. ICS is committed to providing prompt and
professional service for all claims.
To provide such service, ICS has developed proprietary claims software, specifically
developed to handle the complexities of international claims. Due to the wide use
of network facilities, both within the U.S. and around the world, a majority of
claims will not require the submissions of paperwork or any cash layout by the members.
The facilities will bill and be reimbursed directly by ICS.

Claims reimbursement made easy around the globe
Receiving claims reimbursement in other countries is often a time consuming and
frustrating process because of the many banking and currency issues required by
many different jurisdictions and financial institutions. GBG has developed a global
network of Direct Billing providers to minimize the effort in obtaining health care
and then asking for reimbursements. When our member uses one of our contracted providers,
they simply present their GBG/TieCare ID card and the facility bills us directly.
There are times, however, when direct contracted providers are not available or
are not convenient. To help our members deal with this complexity, GBG offers three
methods for the payment of claims. While there are advantages and disadvantages
to each, we have designed this menu of choices with the goal to minimize the cost
and inconvenience in obtaining medical claims reimbursements.
- Direct ACH (Automated Clearing House): GBG
can deposit reimbursements to your U.S. - based bank or checking account.
- Advantages: Instant transfer of funds. No
fees applied to transfers.
- Disadvantage: Only available to holders of
U.S. bank accounts.
- Wire transfer: GBG can make payment of claims
reimbursement by wire transfer directly to a non-U.S. bank account.
- Advantages: Instant transfer of claims reimbursements,
easy to set up and withdraw money.
- Disadvantage: Subject to data and transmission
errors, may be subject to additional fees by receiving and/or intermediary financial
institution. Subject to rate of exchange if receiving bank is not a U.S. dollar
account.
- Payment by check: GBG can issue a check payable
to the member and mailed to the members home or work location.
- Advantages: Simple to issue and deposit, checks
are recognized globally and payment can be stopped if misplaced or diverted.
- Disadvantage: Can be lost or misplaced, may
be subject to "holds" by foreign institutions and to "check cashing fees".
- Claims Reimbursement Card: The member receives
a MasterCard debit card that is credited with an amount equal to the claims reimbursement.
- Advantages: Secure receipt and instant transfer,
can access funds in local currency at ATMs in most locations. Can be used for retail
and on-line purchases.
- Disadvantage: Does not work in some countries
if ATMs are not linked to global network. Subject to ATM transaction fees.
